Even The Young & The Restless Star Hated the Show's Most Awkward Romance: 'It Was Ridiculous'
Sometimes screenwriters' questionable decisions are hated not only by fans, but also by the actors themselves.
There are some things in the world that you can watch endlessly, and seeing your favorite TV characters finally come together is one of them. We've seen hundreds of love stories on screen, like in How I Met Your Mother, but in this case, Ted Mosby's meeting the mother of his children wasn't the most interesting storyline on the show.
Barney's relationship with Robin developed over the course of the whole series and received much more attention. The unexpected romance was perceived by the couple as entertainment rather than something serious.
Throughout the show, Barney and Robin's feelings for each other wax and wane. Their wedding became a real highlight of the show, although the marriage did not last long. Apparently, even sitcom characters are not guaranteed the "happily ever after."
The "happily ever after" wasn't guaranteed for one of The Young and The Restless couples either, but there's just one little detail – fans hated this romantic storyline. And that couple was obviously Sharon and Victor.
Sharon & Victor Crazy Relationship Story
Sharon first fell in love with Victor's son, Nicholas, whom she married as a teenager and had children with. However, their daughter died and the couple decided to get divorced. Sharon then married Nicholas' brother, Adam, but the marriage did not last long.
The woman later fought with Nicholas for custody of the child, while Adam tried to win her back. Sharon went to prison to visit Victor, and at that moment, the strangest love story on television began, as Victor asked Sharon to marry him.
And let's not forget that Victor had been Sharon's father-in-law twice before and they had developed a father-daughter relationship, so this turn of events shocked viewers. However, Sharon soon learned that the new groom was only using her for his own selfish reasons, and the "couple" broke up.
Viewers could forgive the show's creators for this story, if not for an even more insane plot twist. A few months later, the two started dating and eventually... got married. Then Victor disappeared, Sharon tried to take the whole business away from the other members of the Newman family, only to find out that Victor had amnesia.
Eric Braeden Hated This Storyline with All His Heart And Soul
As it turns out, not only did fans hate that romantic storyline, but so did Victor Newman himself, played by Eric Braeden. The actor wrote on his X account:
“The storyline actually pissed me off!!I had envisioned an entirely different scenario! One in which he never married Sharon! It was ridiculous!”
So now you know that you are not alone in your hatred of what may be the weirdest, craziest love story in television history.
