Are four seasons the limit?

The first five episodes of the fourth season of Emily in Paris – a project of the creator of the cult Sex and the City Darren Star – have been released on Netflix. Although the second part of the fourth chapter is on its way (it drops on the platform on September 12), fans are already wondering – should we expect a fifth season or prepare to say goodbye to the characters?

Since the fifth season of the show has not yet been officially confirmed, we will recall how the first part of the fourth season turned out and what prospects the show can expect based on it.

Emily's Love Triangle Becomes Unbearable

By the fourth season, viewers are pretty tired of the love triangle between Emily, Gabriel, and Alfie, but it becomes the main topic of the first few episodes. Although Emily repeats that she is tired of both men, in fact all she thinks and talks about is Gabriel and Alfie.

But there is good news. If you were hoping that she would finally make up her mind, you did not wait in vain. After many hours of tossing and turning, she chooses one of them. This will not be a shock for the viewer, but the circumstances of this choice turn out to be bitter.

The creators of the series introduced two equally good contenders for the heart of the main character, and by breaking the heart of one of them, she automatically breaks the hearts of the fans of the show.

Season 4 Explores Some Unexpected Serious Issues

Aside from the expected romantic drama, the fourth season finally tackles important issues that are related to reality: workplace harassment, abuse of power, and the choice between privacy and dignity. But none of this applies to Emily, of course – her only problem is choosing between two gorgeous guys.

In addition to unexpected topics, which are completely lost in the general implausibility of what happens, some components of the series do not change: beautiful views of Paris, chic interiors, banal clichés, and the amazing ease with which the characters solve all their problems.

But it was precisely the fabulousness of what happened that largely determined the show's popularity. Emily in Paris was loved not for its plausible plot, but for the opportunity to immerse oneself in a bright world and escape from everyday life. But is it possible to use the same formula for the fourth season in a row? With difficulty.

Will Emily in Paris Be Renewed for Season 5?

A bright and sweet candy in a very colorful wrapper is a completely unnecessary spectacle and has already become quite boring, but it still fits the definition of a perfect guilty pleasure. Looking at beautiful people and their problems can sometimes be very therapeutic.

Although the show still has problems that have been dragging on since the first season and which no one seems to be in a hurry to solve, Emily in Paris fans can probably rest easy – there is no reason why the show will not be renewed for a fifth season.

The fourth season has received about the same scores as the previous three, the viewership ratings remain high, and Emily remains as charming and slightly annoying as ever, so there is no need to worry.
