Elsbeth Season 2: Which Stars Will Return?

Elsbeth is a CBS crime procedural that has taken over the Internet like wildfire thanks to its quirky yet charming lead, Elbeth Tascioni, portrayed by Carrie Preston, and its nostalgic formula that takes viewers back to their favorite shows of the 1990s and 2000s.

Even though the show is a spin-off of two other hits, The Good Wife and The Good Fight, many people didn't trust the show enough to be as entertaining as it turned out to be. But now that Elsbeth's quality has been confirmed by thousands of viewers, a slew of positive reviews, and Season 2 on its way, more and more people are showing interest.

Is Elsbeth Renewed for Season 2?

Elsbeth has been officially renewed for season 2 in April 2024, and now fans are guessing which of the characters will return to their screens. Some believe the answer to that question may actually be in the very announcement made by Amy Reisenbach, President of CBS Entertainment.

Citing the success of the series, Reisenbach specifically thanked three of the actors. They were Carrie Preston, who portrays Elsbeth herself, and Wendell Pierce and Carra Patterson, who portray Captain C.W. Wagner and Officer Kaya Blanke, respectively. Judging by the season 1 finale, all three of these characters are expected to return.

In addition to the return of the regular cast members who make the show as great as it is, viewers are also interested in some guest star appearances. Season 1 of Elsbeth gave the show a fun premise and a formula that worked in all cases, but the longer the show goes on, the more repetitive it gets. Guests are essential to keep things entertaining.

Speaking to TVInsider, showrunner Jonathan Tolins wasn't too sure about guest stars coming to Elsbeth anytime soon:

“I’m certainly open to it. I would love for it to happen if we can work it out somehow. I always think TV fans sometimes think of characters as crayons that you can just pick up and use. But it’s like, there’s budget, there’s schedule, there’s lots of things going on. So it’s tricky,” he said.
