We are in for another thrilling detective story.

Elsbeth, a show about a lawyer who catches criminals with the NYPD, was not only a hit with viewers, who immediately fell in love with the charming title character, but it also seems to have paved the way for a show that had not been greenlit by CBS for years.

CBS loves its procedurals, but for some reason, the procedural Einstein, from the creators of the cult classic Monk, hasn't been able to get on the air since 2019. Now, on its third try, a remake of the original German series of the same name is in development.

Elsbeth's Success Apparently Convinced CBS Bosses to Greenlight Einstein

Elsbeth is close to Monk: she can also talk to suspects about abstract topics and discreetly extract valuable information from them. Apparently, it was Elsbeth's success that restored the network's faith in Andy Breckman and Randy Zisk, the people who gave us one of the best crime shows of 2002.

The details of the new Einstein series have not yet been revealed, but we can remember what the original German series was about, which ran for three seasons — from 2017 to 2019.

What Is Original Einstein About?

Felix Winterberg is just crazy about science. The desire to pursue scientific discoveries was inherited from his great-grandfather, who was Albert Einstein himself. Felix has inherited his talent and is trying to realize it to the fullest. But the main character also has to think about time, because he is suffering from a fatal disease that will not allow him to live longer than forty years.

Therefore, Felix decides to spend all his free time working on his scientific theory. The main character devotes about twenty-one hours a day to his studies. In addition, to stay in good shape, he takes illegal drugs. Of course, the use of drugs affects his behavior and his views on the surrounding reality.

Felix has been caught by the police more than once. However, he managed to avoid arrest by making a deal — the scientist now helps the police with investigations from time to time, working as a consultant.
