Ellen Pompeo Might Be Not-so-secretly Happy to Break Free From Grey's Anatomy
It seems that now we just have Anatomy, and no Grey.
"I am eternally grateful and humbled by the love and support you have all shown me, Meredith GREY and the show for 19 seasons!" Pompeo wrote in her Instagram when saying goodbye to the show.
While the moment is undoubtedly an emotional one for both the actress and the fans, some people are having sneaky thoughts. For example, many believe that Pompeo may be not-so-secretly happy to finally leave the show.
Others have noted that it has been exhausting to watch, let alone film, so many seasons. Fans joke that "this woman can finally rest", while others note that they thought "Ellen was going to die in that hospital before she left".
There are also those who feel that Pompeo's exit was meant to be the show's finale.
"If Meredith Grey is gone shouldn't that be the end of the show. There's a reason it's called Grey's Anatomy. 19 years is a good run," Twitter user jmbredux said.
Since the name of the show refers directly to Pompeo's character, the showrunners might consider either changing the course of the series or bringing it to an end. The latter seems to be the more likely option, as even fans of the show are starting to complain that things are taking too long.

Some people, however, are clearly not ready to say goodbye to the iconic show, saying that its finale could mark a major shift in their world.
But sometimes, say others, it is simply time to move on. Like Ellen Pompeo, perhaps Shonda Rhimes' legendary show needs to make way for new projects.
