Prepare to see some period drama therapy.

Ever since it was announced that season 3 of Hulu 's period drama The Great would premiere on May 12, 2023, fans couldn't hide their excitement.

The first trailer for the season showed off all the best things the series has to offer with a twist on a new storyline for it, and got everyone even more excited for what's to come.

Elle Fanning, who portrays the show's main character, Catherine the Great, dropped a few hints about what fans can expect in the upcoming episodes.

Especially in regards to the most prominent enemies-to-lovers duo television may ever see: Catherine and her husband Peter III.

With the ups and downs of their relationship, it's no wonder that Season 3 is going to be a wild ride for them.

But this time, there's a catch: they actually try to do things the right way.

"There is marriage counseling… we play a lot of games, there's a lot of talking, there's a marriage witch involved that helps us — or doesn't help us that much," Fanning teased when speaking to Deadline.

Whether or not 18th-century couples therapy helps the royals, they still have their duties to fulfill.

Not just to the empire, but to their own son, Paul, who will also be explored a bit more in the upcoming season.

While the actress admits that Peter is a great father to their son, she explains that Catherine herself might not enjoy motherhood as much.

There's still room for improvement in their bond, and viewers can expect to see more of that in season 3. One thing that hasn't changed is the actors' dedication to their roles.

While praising Nicholas Hoult for his performance as Peter III and explaining how their chemistry has only grown and developed over the seasons, Fanning admits that the role is still very close to her heart.

She even goes so far as to say that she's grown as Catherine the Great herself.

If you are excited to see the show come back, be sure to tune in and stream The Great Season 3 on Hulu when it premieres on May 12.
