The Black Adam star compares an infamous situation to sports: "not my coach, not my quarterback."

When Black Adam hit the big screen on October 21, 2022, it finally brought the confirmation fans had been waiting for.

In the mid-credits scene of the movie, Teth-Adam, brought to life by Dwayne Johnson, is confronted by Superman, portrayed once again by Henry Cavill.

This event, along with Henry's official confirmation of his comeback via Instagram, made fans ecstatic.

However, in an unexpected turn of events, Cavill's comeback seemed to be short-lived, as Black Adam premiered just before James Gunn and Peter Safran were hired to reboot the DC Extended Universe, recasting Henry as the Man of Steel.

Considering all the effort Dwayne put into bringing Black Adam to the big screen, as well as being heavily involved in Henry Cavill's return to the DC Extended Universe as Superman, one can only imagine how hard it was for the actor to learn that all his efforts were for naught.

After all, Johnson had to go to great lengths to get the Man of Steel to appear in his movie at all. But the actor decided to keep things professional when it comes to his public statements.

Following Johnson's announcement that he is done with DC movies for now, he recently made another statement regarding the situation. Speaking to Variety, the actor said:

"You know, all that I could do and that we could do when we were making Black Adam was to put our best foot forward, surround ourselves with the best people, and then also deliver the best movie we could. Our audience score was in the 90s. Critics took a couple of shots. That's just the business of it, though."

He also explained how uncomfortable the situation was by comparing it to sports:

"It's almost like when you have a pro football team, and your quarterback wins championships and the head coach wins championships.

And you have a new owner, and the new owner comes in and says not my coach, not my quarterback, I'm going to go with somebody new."

However, considering James Gunn's recent tweet, it is still possible that Henry will return to the DCEU, the only catch being that it could be in a different role.
