DreamWorks’ $545M Hit Is Finally Coming to Peacock This Week
Fans of the beloved franchise are getting yet another reason to rewatch this year’s high-grossing flick.
After months of wait, Kung Fu Panda ’s lovers will finally be able to have that binge-watch marathon as this week marks the arrival of the franchise’s fourth movie on Peacock.
Kung Fu Panda 4’s digital release has been one of the highly anticipated events since the film’s initial theatrical release back in March, and now the beloved clumsy panda’s adventures are finally available for a hundredth rewatch at home.
Starring Jack Black and Awkwafina as the lead voice actors, Kung Fu Panda 4 continues the previous movies’ storyline following Po the Dragon Warrior, who this time gets a much more serious mission of finding himself a successor as he’s now proclaimed the Spiritual Leader of the Valley of Peace.
Determined to serve his purpose, Po embarks on a search for a new Dragon Warrior which eventually leads him to facing another big enemy, a tiny yet wicked lizard called Chameleon. Accompanied by a newly found friend in the form of thievish fox Zhen, Po is set to embrace a new position of a mentor while still trying to protect the Valley of Peace from the villainous lizard.
Was Kung Fu Panda 4 Good?
Upon its release earlier this year, Kung Fu Panda 4 became a huge box office success garnering $545 million against the initial budget of $85 million and at some point even surpassing Denis Villeneuve’s major sci-fi hit Dune: Part 2. The animated flick also got an overall acclaim getting scores of 72% and 87% from critics and viewers respectively on Rotten Tomatoes.
Though the famous franchise’s latest installment didn’t come as its biggest moneymaker compared to the first movie that back in 2008 grossed more than $630 million, Kung Fu Panda 4 still made a huge contribution into the animated universe’s success letting the latter reach the mark of $2 billion in total.
Kung Fu Panda 4 will land on Peacock on June 21.
