'Don't Worry Darling' Drama, Explained
Because yes, it does need some explanation.
Even though the title of the movie suggests tranquility and calmness, 'Don't Worry Darling' has pretty much everyone very worried.
As the movie cast, spearheaded by Olivia Wilde, attended the premiere held at Venice Film Festival, their names have been making waves in Twitter trends. Why? What is happening?
Clearly, it's not the movie plot everyone is obsessed with. In fact, 'Don't Worry Darling' has a long trail of drama that followed it right to the Venice Film Festival red carpet – and even grew longer there.
What started off as gossip about whether Olivia Wilde and Florence Pugh hate each other has quickly evolved into a full-scale investigation of whether Harry Styles actually spat on his castmate, Chris Pine. Fans later divided the cast into two groups: Styles and Wilde against Pine, Pugh and Gemma Chan, with people apparently believing that professional actors have some sort of issues with Wilde over her directing and Styles over his lack of acting experience.
Wilde has denied having any kind of "feud" with Florence Pugh, but the latter did not comment or debunk the rumors. It was claimed that Wilde "fired" Shia LaBeouf in order to allegedly create a "safe" environment for Pugh, but the actor then denied ever being fired and pointed to a video, in which Wilde says that him leaving "might be a bit of a wake-up call for Miss Flo".
Meanwhile, Chris Pine is going through his meme era. As he was spotted with an iconically indifferent face throughout the press conference, he was later filmed taking no issue with Harry Styles seemingly spitting towards him during the premiere. It's unclear whether Styles actually did that, but the footage has many fans believing so.
Wilde and Styles are being grilled by many fans over their less-than-sophisticated answers at the Venice Film Festival presser. Styles had many people facepalming when he said that his favorite thing about 'Don't Worry Darling" was that it "felt like a movie", while Wilde had little success trying to persuade the audience that "Florence Pugh is a force" and "when you watch the film, you're gonna say 'That's Florence Pugh'".
Did we miss anything? Pretty much certainly we did, because the drama seems to be evolving every hour. But even if you had no idea about what 'Don't Worry Darling' was until today, you might not be able to escape from it on your social media for a couple of days now.
'Don't Worry Darling' is set for a September 23, 2022 release in the United States.
