Does Chris Hemsworth Really Get Naked in 'Love and Thunder'?
Forget the plot details and the unresolved mysteries; we have a really important question here.
Perhaps one of the most eye-catching scenes from the 'Thor: Love and Thunder ' trailer was when Zeus "flicked too hard" and blew Thor's clothes away, revealing… well, pretty much everything. But even despite that pretty straightforward angle, the scene in the trailer was not as spicy as it could be due to the magic of pixels.
However, fans were still left wondering whether pixels will save the God of Thunder from all the embarrassment in theaters. And Taika Waititi, the movie's director, was quick to pledge that there will be no mysteries on big screens, and fans will indeed get to see Chris Hemsworth 's full nudity.
According to the early reviews, Waititi stuck to his promise: Thor's rear appears on the big screen in all its glory for everyone to enjoy. So, if you were wondering if the shot of Chris Hemsworth's naked body was pixelated in theatrical release – it is not. Although we should add that in some countries theatres will most likely end up pixelating the nudity despite whatever it was the director wanted. For instance, 'Thor: Love and Thunder' release is already postponed in Malaysia, famous for its stringent film censorship policies.
When speaking about the scene on Stephen Colbert's 'The Late Show' earlier in June, Waititi confirmed his full commitment to showing fans "the full worthiness" of Hemsworth.
"With Chris, he's worked so hard on that," he told the host. "It's so many squats! It'd be depriving humanity if I didn't show that."
Chris himself, it seems, was more than happy to bare it all on screen, telling Variety that it was "a dream" of his. "The first time I played Thor I took my shirt off and I thought, 'You know what's gonna sweeten this... a decade from now it's all gonna come off," the actor said.
However, some fans spotted quite an inconsistency in Chris' public statements:
"I keep remembering an interview where Helmsworth stated he was uncomfortable always having to go shirtless as Thor, for the last film. Now he’s saying it was a dream?" – @SifuEagle.
No matter what one thinks of the artistic value of 'Thor: Love and Thunder', there is now definitely one more reason to go and grab that ticket for the new God of Thunder movie. The movie releases worldwide on July 8.
