Doctor Who Fans Just Came Up With a Perfect Villain Arc (RTD, Take Notes)
Who knows what series 15 will bring.
If there is one thing that remains consistent about Doctor Who, it is the way the writers always find something fun to add to the TARDIS team dynamic. No matter who the Doctor is, they get a perfect companion to travel the galaxy with. What's even more exciting is that sometimes the companions come as a package deal.
Throughout series 14 of the series, Doctor Who explored the journey of Ncuti Gatwa 's 15th Doctor and his companion, Ruby Sunday. In series 15, however, the show will introduce another character, played by Varada Sethu. Although no one knows her story yet, fans already have a pretty cool concept for Russell T Davies to consider.
Doctor Who Series 15 Companions
Leaving Ruby Sunday to spend some time with her family and get the answers she has been desperately seeking all her life, the Doctor was sure their paths would cross again. However, anyone who has watched the show knows how dangerous it is for him to be alone. This is why, many believe, Sethu's character Mundy was introduced.
The cool thing about each companion is that they were never really just an appendage to the Doctor. The first New Who companion Rose lived her entire life in London, Rory Williams and Amy Pond had a child in the TARDIS, and Clara Oswald ended up being a mystery for the Doctor to solve.
Mundy Flynn will surely have a story of her own, and fans have some ideas about what would be cool to see.
“I've always liked the idea of the Doctor deliberately taking on a companion who's meant to turn evil in the future as an attempt to stop it, but they accidentally become the cause of it: seeing the threats of the universe pushes them into becoming a militant dictator or something,” X user @B2000Ben suggested.
Though some stories about the companions turning into villains have been teased in the past, such as the whole debacle of River Song and her murder of the Doctor, it has never been explored in a realistic way. Given how much loss the companions have endured, it is only fair to see at least one of them radicalized.
Of course, there is no guarantee that Varada Sethu's character will follow this path. But it is a possibility that could be explored in the future, and fans would love to see the show spice things up in that way.
