Disney and horror aren't typically connected in anybody's mind.

It is no wonder though, since a person's first three associations with the former would most probably be princesses, love, and kindness.

The latter, on the other hand, would be gore, monsters, and death. Even more of an event it is, when Disney decides to make a horror movie.

First of all, there haven't been a Disney horror film in years if not decades. All the more serious ones were shot in the past century, including Escape to Witch Mountain (1975) and Hocus Pocus (1993).

So, the upcoming Haunted Mansion is going to be the first well-produced Disney horror movie of this century.

Second of all, when the company films a horror picture, it is most likely about Halloween. At least, that was true for the movies shot after the 2000s, take the Halloweentown franchise into consideration.

Haunted Mansion is not going to be related to Halloween in any possible way. That means that we may expect a plot free of clichés and non-stereotypical characters.

Third of all, being a giant as it is, Disney has enough finances and state-of-the-art VFX to create a masterpiece of a movie, even if it's a horror one. At least, people seem to have good expectations.

"Wow.... I hope this is a little scary and entertaining and not ridiculous disney comedy," one fan said in a YouTube comment.

What is more exciting about the upcoming remake, is the cast. Simply put, it is first-class. Indeed, Owen Wilson, Jamie Lee Curtis, Dan Levy, Danny DeVito and Tiffany Haddish – what better use could there be for Disney's resources?

The plot, in its turn, resembles that of Eddie Murphy 's 2003 movie only distantly. It is going to be fresh and spruced up with the power of 2023's visuals.

Although it is a horror film, the upcoming Haunted Mansion will make a good family watch in the best traditions of Disney movies.

"Do y'all ever think about kids now in 20 years talking about how this scarred them lmao," another YouTuber wondered.

Whatever memories the picture leaves you and your family with, you are going to remember it for the next couple of years.

As for now, we have no choice but to look forward to watching Haunted Mansion, scheduled to be released on July, 28 this summer.
