If you were excited for this Monday's new episode, we got bad news.

It looks like NCIS fans will have to brace themselves for a sudden break, because the long-awaited new episode of 20th season will now air on May 1 instead of the initial date of April 17.

Even though its sister show, NCIS: Los Angeles, has aired a new episode according to the schedule, the parent series is apparently heading into a short hiatus, just like another spinoff, NCIS: Hawaii.

The Los Angeles branch of the show is on a different schedule because it ends in May after 14 seasons.

The show's most recent 17th episode, titled Maybe Today, left fans in tears and heartbroken; well, it's only fair they at least get to follow their favorite series for some time before it bids adieu.

Still, the fact that the next two Mondays will not be marked with new NCIS episodes from the DC branch is extremely disappointing for fans.

The fact that this is yet another hiatus after another similar break in late March also doesn't help.

However, one thing does help: NCIS was renewed for season 21 back in February, and CBS also ordered a third season of NCIS: Hawaii that will premiere in fall 2023.

The departure of the long-running Los Angeles spinoff makes it all bittersweet, but at least the NCIS universe is nowhere near shutting down.

As the parent show and its Hawaii spinoff are in yet another hiatus, fans can still stream old episodes of the iconic CBS shows on Paramount+.
