Was the premise of Dead City really that bad?

The original Walking Dead series concluded almost a year ago, but the story isn't done yet. A number of spinoffs are set to continue the story of the most beloved characters.

One of these spinoffs, called Walking Dead: Dead City, has recently finished up its first season. If you've been following the series, you've probably had a few moments where you've raised an eyebrow or two.

Well, you're not alone. Fans on Reddit have been discussing the premise of Dead City, and let's just say, not everyone was convinced.

First off, Maggie. She's been portrayed as an ultra-badass leader who has survived over 15 years into the zombie apocalypse. But fans have noticed a pattern. Every time there's a hiccup in the story, some random group just waltzes in and challenges them. And they always seem to have the upper hand.

One of the doubt gripes is about The Croat’s group. They leave NYC, head to the mainland, and just like that, they're taking over Maggie's community. And where is this community? Near NYC.

After all these years, have they not learned a thing or two about defending themselves?

Fans also pointed out some inconsistencies. For instance, Maggie's community doesn't look like it's been through a major attack. And if they were indeed attacked, why is Maggie handling everything solo?

There's also confusion about the Croat's intentions. Did they really take over Maggie's community, or was it just a ploy involving her son, Hershel?

Another point of contention is the location. Why did they choose to be near NYC? There are so many other options closer to home. It's like they took the scenic route to danger.

A few fans expressed their disappointment with Dead City as a whole. They felt that the new characters introduced didn't leave a lasting impression, and the dynamics between Maggie and Negan felt repetitive.

Dead City has its ups and downs, and fans noticed some plot holes that are hard to overlook. But that doesn't mean fans aren't eagerly anticipating the second season, hoping it'll clear up some of those questions. Plus, there are more spinoffs in the pipeline that fans are also super excited about.
