Rhodey was a Skrull since Civil War, really?

In addition to leaving viewers absolutely disappointed, the finale of Secret Invasion also left fans totally confused about Rhodey. While the reveal of Rhodes as a Skrull was a predictable twist, it left everyone scratching their heads with one particular question: when did Rhodey become a Skrull?

In a recent interview with ComicBook.com, the director of Secret Invasion, Ali Selim shared his point of view on the whole "Skrull Rhodey" situation.

He didn’t give a definitive answer, but he suggested that Rhodey has been a Skrull since the events of Captain America: Civil War in 2016.

This revelation has sent shockwaves through the MCU fandom, as it implies that Rhodey was a Skrull during his appearances in Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame.

Selim's comments have sparked a flurry of speculation and debate among fans over on Reddit. Many are questioning whether the director has actually watched the MCU movies. Others are hoping that this will be later explained in Armor Wars, as Selim said “or it'll be answered in Armor Wars,”

One user, River_Odessa, humorously suggested that Marvel might reveal Tony Stark as an Asgardian in a few years. Another user, Hammerheadhunter, pointed out that the Skrull version of Rhodey seemed to have an uncanny knowledge of time-travel movies.

The director's comments have certainly stirred the pot, leading to a whirlwind of theories and debates among fans. It's clear that this revelation has dramatically changed the perspective of past events in the MCU.

Throughout Infinity War and Endgame, Rhodey displays a deep emotional connection to his fellow Avengers. Just remember his interaction with Nebula, for example. He seemed genuine and human, not something a Skrull imposter would likely be able to replicate so convincingly.

It is so implausible that the Rhodey we saw in those movies was a Skrull that if it is later confirmed, it would be one of the dumbest moves in the MCU. But at the moment, it really looks like the director of Secret Invasion didn’t burden himself too much with the events of the previous projects.

Do you think Rhodey could be a Skrull since Civil War?
