Let’s see how many episodes it’ll take for her to get what she wants.

Summary:

  • In the 60 years that General Hospital has been on ABC, more than a few characters have come back to life.
  • However, Jason Morgan, the newest addition to the residents of Port Charles, seems to be losing all of his previous connections.
  • Fans believe this is the writers' plan to keep him closer to Carly and push their romance forward.

If you were to ask General Hospital viewers how things are going in Port Charles, you probably wouldn't get much news other than Jason coming back to life. Steve Burton's comeback to the soap has been one of the hottest topics of discussion for fans over the past few months, and rightfully so.

With Jason's return, there are plenty of opportunities for some plot twists. For example, his reconciliation with his son was an unexpected but very welcome choice. His reconciliation with Carly, on the other hand, was expected and not so welcome.

As much as we love the nostalgic outburst that these two might offer, Carly and Jason coming back together as romantic partners seems too neatly planned to really root for them. It is one thing for lovers to fight against all odds to be together, and quite another for romance to be handed to them on a platter of gold.

Will Carly and Jason Reunite on General Hospital?

Of course, there is much more to Jason Morgan than romance, but General Hospital is a soap opera, and soap opera viewers will always speculate about the relationship drama first.

Many viewers were sure that when Jason returned to Port Charles, he would immediately reconnect with one of his past romantic interests, Carly, Elizabeth, or Sam. Knowing how controversial Carly became during Jason's absence, it's easy to guess that this option wasn't the most favorable. And yet, it feels like that's exactly what we're getting.

The seeds were planted even before Jason was back on viewers' screens. The way Carly reacted to Drew stalking Nina made many people think that their relationship wouldn't last long. Although the fact that Drew got the last word was unexpected, the groundwork for Jason and Carly's reunion has been laid.

Another thing that doesn't sit right with the fans is the way General Hospital seems to be weakening all the other connections in Jason's life to make him get closer to Carly and her kids. Although it is too early to draw any conclusions, the way the writers keep Jason and Elizabeth apart feels forced.

Of course, by helping Jason now, Carly's branch of the family will only grow closer to him in the long run. To see how long it will take for the two of them to fall back into each other's arms, tune in to General Hospital Monday through Friday on ABC.
