Did General Hospital Just Straight Up Forget This Character Even Existed?
Fans being loyal to their beloved characters is not big news.
General Hospital is one of the most popular medical dramas on television today, as it has been for the last 60 years. And with the status of one of the longest running American soaps, the show has definitely had a lot going on with its characters over all these years.
Some of them are really there from the beginning. Basically, they live their whole lives in front of the fans: from growing up to getting older. A lot of other characters were introduced to the show much later, as the cast changes with each new season.
As with any soap, it never really bothered fans when suddenly some changes happened to the show's regular or supporting cast.
Actors' departures, whether they were not foreseen or, on the contrary, long-awaited, are usually well-received by the viewers – as long as there is a decent explanation.
But there is one character whose recent departure from the show fans seem to take badly. It’s Hayden Barnes.
She went missing several years ago, after she actually was shot and put in a coma for a few months. And after her recovery and the scenes of her new life, she suddenly fled town.
Since then, nothing in the show implied that she was ever there, and fans find it really odd.
“No one ever brings her up anymore, not even Violet, which is strange. Wasn’t someone investigating her disappearance and Hayden’s mom or someone got murdered? Finn is so infatuated with Liz but why does he no longer care where the mother of his child is? Did I miss the resolution or did the writers just legit forget the story was happening?” Redditor Phonecian_Prophet said.
Well, a lot of fans agreed that it probably was just the writers' fault that nobody ever heard from Hayden again. It's also interesting that even the actress who plays her, Rebecca Budig, isn't sure where her character ended up.
"I hope she's not dead," she said in the interview with Soaps a few months ago, only confirming that there are still no details about her whereabouts many years later.
