Did Bridgerton's Marina Thompson Deserve What's Coming Her Way In S3?

If there's one Bridgerton character for whom everyone feels sorry, it's Marina Thompson. A young girl forced to marry someone she doesn't love because her true love has gone off to war: that's the level of tragedy you'd expect from any romantic drama.

However, like every other character in the story, Marina is deeply flawed, and many believe she deserves whatever happens to her next.

Technically, all the trouble started when Marina had an affair with her lover before they were married. Of course, all the details of the intercourse were left behind the scenes, but she arrives at Featheringtons already pregnant with her twins, and that forces her to find someone to marry as soon as possible.

That's when the idea of marrying Colin Bridgerton comes to her. Marina knows very well that she will ruin all the hopes and dreams of Penelope Featherington, who considered her a friend and shared her feelings for Colin, but she didn't care. In fact, Marina took it upon herself to explain to Penelope that Colin wasn't interested in her anyway.

While some viewers didn't find Marina's intentions malicious, others believe that the whole conversation was just an act of unnecessary cruelty. With so many men available for marriage, Marina Thompson could've chosen anyone, but she chose someone close to her. It didn't matter to her whom she married because she didn't marry out of love.

But it did matter to Penelope, so much so that she couldn't stand lying to everyone anymore and decided to out Marina in the worst possible way, through her gossip newsletter, Lady Whistledown.

Marina Thompson's fate ends tragically in the original story, as the woman takes her own life after being trapped in an unhappy marriage with Phillip Crane, who was a suitor for her hand instead of Colin.

Though Shondaland has already made some changes to her character, many fans believe she will suffer a similar fate in Bridgerton season 3.
