Destiel Parallel We Never Wanted to See in Good Omens (And Yet, Here It Is)

The second chapter of Good Omens was just as heartbreaking as it was long-anticipated. Let's just say this wasn't the way Crowley and Aziraphale fans were expecting them to finally reveal their feelings; but is it really the first time our souls are crushed because of a certain angel being hopelessly in love with their best friend?

One Tumblr user has pointed out a cursed parallel between Supernatural 's Destiel (a pairing name for Dean and Castiel, in case you've been living under a rock) and Crowley and Aziraphale's heartbreaking separation in season 2. If you're still hurt by the way Supernatural got rid of Misha Collins ' Cas, sorry to remind you.

In season 15 of The CW's iconic show, Castiel confesses his love for Dean before sacrificing himself to the Darkness and basically being sent to the void. Supernatural had plenty of ways to kill its characters off and then resurrect them like nothing happened, but this time, it was Castiel's endgame and swan song.

Basically, he revealed his feelings for his best friend and got sent to "super hell," while Aziraphale, having shared a passionate kiss with Crowley, got sent to "super heaven," as Tumblr user yellenabelova noted. Both times, it was the angels' choice, but it doesn't make it less heartbreaking.

"If I had a nickel for every time a gay angel was sent to super something because he was in love with his best friend, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice," the fan captioned their post sarcastically.

Now if there is a truly unnecessary cinematic parallel, this is it, but now that it's in your head, we're happy that we're not suffering alone.

Good Omens is currently in limbo due to the ongoing writers' and actors' strikes, but the series creator Neil Gaiman has hinted that he has some ideas for season 3. Now, all we can do is stream Good Omens season 2 on Prime Video ( only to have our hearts broken once again).
