Dark Souls Adaptation? Netflix Might Already Be On It

It looks like the next video game to be adapted into a Netflix animated series will be Dark Souls, according to GiantFreakingRobot.

According to the information received from sources, the series will not be an adaptation of the original game, but a project based on it. The events will take place in Lordran from the first Dark Souls, but what exactly the series will be about is unclear.

Insiders claim that this will be a truly original anime series, and its quality will be comparable to the popular Castlevania.

Dark Souls is a games trilogy developed by FromSoftware. First game was released in 2011 with sequels in 2014 and 2016.

Dark Souls is one of the most popular game franchises today, but the choice to adapt these particular games is rather unusual.

The Dark Souls series has a very idiosyncratic approach to storytelling. The game doesn't explain almost anything to the player and doesn't present the necessary information directly.

Moreover, the cutscenes, which are so beloved by many players, are simply absent in the game, so the player can only collect the bits of information by himself and try to build up his own picture of the world of Dark Souls.

More than ten years have passed since the release of the first Dark Souls, but many players still doubt the presence of a plot in this game.

The essence of the game is that the character goes through the so-called "Path of the Hero," where, following the prophecy, the chosen one fulfills his duty through difficulties and trials. This literally sounds like a typical epic fantasy plot, which would actually be perfect for an adaptation.

Considering that Castlevania and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners turned out to be very good adaptations for Netflix, fans can expect the same level of quality for Dark Souls. It should be noted, though, that it will not be easy to adapt a story as complex as that of Dark Souls.
