Daredevil: Born Again Might Stray Even Further From The Original Than Expected
Fans could not more eagerly anticipate the next Daredevil entry in the MCU, titled Born Again, no less.
Fans were blown away first by surprise return of Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock in the latest Spider-Man movie, and then by the unannounced appearance of Vincent D'Onofrio portraying the infamous villain Wilson Fisk in Hawkeye.
Considering the potential hype status of the new series and few details we know at this point, there's so much room for doubts.
Fans are of course aware that Charlie Cox and Vincent D'Onofrio are already confirmed to return to their original roles in the massive 18-episode Born Again entry, they have although spent months wondering if the new show will serve as a direct continuation of Netflix 's Daredevil or a soft reboot, or even a legacy sequel of sorts.
At last, some new information has been resurfaced.
Cox, the very actor behind the red mask, mentioned in an interview during his appearance at D23 Expo, that his next Daredevil MCU show won't entirely pick up where Netflix's Daredevil left off, continuing as to state that the new show won't be based off the 1986 Born Again comic classic, as some speculated it might, given the name of the new show.
The whole future of characters and plot patterns of Netflix Universe (which also included Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, The Defenders, and The Punisher) will for now remain out of our focus, as it is very unclear at this point whether other titles from this list will get the same treatment as Daredevil has, or whether fans will see those beloved characters at all in the MCU future.
As we now have the Disney Plus MCU shows' wave in full throttle, the canonical status of all previous MCU TV shows and its characters hangs in the balance. And not only that: The Netflix Universe has stood apart in its grim maturity, which might be an issue considering a more family-friendly Disney Plus approach.
All the while it's might not be as connected to its predecessor as fans would hope, there's no reason to think that Daredevil: Born Again won't be the Netflix sequel that Daredevil fans have been longing for.
Of course, this would imply bringing more aspects (and characters, for sure) from the original show.
Daredevil: Born Again is set to release on Disney Plus in spring 2024.
