Danny Boyle's Sex Pistols series hit Hulu this spring
Are you ready for a new punk rock biopic from the ‘Trainspotting’ director?
The new FX series about Sex Pistols all six episodes of which was directed by Danny Boyle has set a release date. The limited series called ‘Pistol’ will premiere on Hulu on Tuesday, May 31st in the US. In other countries it will be available on Disney+.
Series is based on Sex Pistols guitarist Steve Jones’ memoir ‘Lonely Boy: Tales From a Sex Pistol’ (2017). It is known that John “Johnny Rotten” Lydon, Sex Pistols infamous frontman, was dead set against using Sex Pistols songs in the show, but lost the lawsuit.
‘Pistol’ stars Anson Boon (‘1917’) as Johnny Rotten, Toby Wallace (‘Babyteeth’) as Steve Jones and Louis Partridge (‘Enola Holmes’) as Sid Vicious. Judging by the cast the series was full of other 1970s legendary pop culture icons: Sydney Chandler will play Chrissie Hynde, Pretenders frontwoman, Talulah Riley – fashion designer Vivienne Westwood and Thomas Brodie-Sangster – Malcolm McLaren, Sex Pistols’ manager and promoter.
The fans' reaction to the first images from the series wasn’t very friendly. Some of them obviously support Lydon, saying that the legacy should be left alone.
