Danny Boyle Reveals His Botched James Bond Movie Story
Famed British director was set to direct the latest James Bond film, before dropping out of the production due to creative differences.
The drama surrounding the development of 'No Time to Die' is well known, with the most high-profile incident being Danny Boyle 's departure from directing and writing. Fans are still wondering what the famous 007 agent would've looked like in the hands of the 'Trainspotting' director, but the British director remained remarkably silent and refused to comment on the situation.
Well, not anymore. In a recent interview for Indie Wire, Boyle finally revealed his original pitch for the film, explaining why IP producers decided to drop him and his co-writer John Hodge from the last Bond film with Daniel Craig.
"Weirdly — it would have been very topical now — it was all set in Russia, which is of course where Bond came from, out of the Cold War. It was set in present-day Russia and went back to his origins, and they just lost, what's the word… they just lost confidence in it. It was a shame really," Boyle said.
It seems that the Bond producers decided that, given the current political climate, it would be rather strange to shoot the film in Russia, and chose a safer course of action. However, Boyle's idea would have been much more interesting than Fukunaga's. Exploring the origins of 007 could have been a great way to say goodbye to the legendary superspy, so fans are obviously very upset by the producers' decision to let Boyle go.
