Crazy Star Wars Theory Says Darth Vader Helped Rebellion Long Before A New Hope
Perhaps, deep down, Skywalker has never stopped being the Anakin we all love.
Star Wars fans are known for their vast knowledge and passionate discussions about their favorite franchise. From analyzing every detail of the films to creating elaborate theories, the community of George Lucas' universe is always buzzing with excitement.
And the latest speculation was about one of the most successful films in the franchise, Rogue One. The movie tells the story of rebels who try to get the documents for the secret development of the Empire, which is capable of destroying planets.
The main characters Jyn Erso and Cassian Andor embark on a dangerous journey through different galaxies in search of the plans for the Death Star, hoping to stop Palpatine. Eventually, the heroes manage to deliver the data to the rebels and find a weakness in the technology that will help Luke Skywalker deliver the crucial blow in the fight against evil.
But some fans still think it wouldn't have happened if Darth Vader had been a little quicker. In one of the final scenes of Rogue One, the iconic villain appears on a rebel ship trying to stop a data transmission.
This has led viewers to theorize that the former Anakin Skywalker was helping the Rebellion, if not directly, then at least by not preventing. Fans point to a comic book about Vader that takes place before A New Hope.
It shows the villain speculating about his hatred for the very idea of the Death Star. Even though he is forced to work with Orson Krennic, Rogue One's main antagonist, who is overseeing the project.
And while Krennic thinks the Empire's generals are trying to appropriate his fame and success, he overlooks the actions of the fallen Anakin. Darth Vader wants to be the only technologically advanced and powerful weapon in the galaxy, and the Death Star could disrupt his plans.
While fans are unlikely to discover the exact motivation of the fallen Skywalker in the climax of Rogue One, it adds more layers to the already expansive Star Wars franchise. Perhaps Darth Vader's redemption arc began long before he rescued Luke and destroyed the Emperor.
