Could Stranger Things Be a Part of Scooby-Doo Universe?
Scooby-Doo, where are you? — In the Upside Down.
If you think that Scooby-Doo being somehow related to Stranger Things is the craziest thing to say, you should think twice.
There are lots of cinematic parallels in the show and it could not go unnoticed. Some scenes from Scooby-Doo animated series and motion pictures happened to be very similar to some scenes from Stranger Things.
It is obvious that there is no direct connection between two franchises but looking at these surprisingly lookalike scenes, one can assume that the creators of Stranger Things might have gathered some inspiration from Scooby-Doo.
On the other hand, it can be simply a coincidence given the relatively similar genres of two works.
Do you remember the scene from the 7th episode of season 4 where we see the "adult protagonists" having a boat trip across the lake. Same boat scene was shown in one of the Scooby-Doo animated series.
Moreover, Steve fearlessly dives into the water towards an eye-shaped glowing portal that leads to Upside Down.
Fred from Scooby-Doo does the same thing and also approaches some kind of an underwater gate of similar shape.
Another example is the scene from Stranger Things of protagonists bumping into someone's stuff while driving an RV.
This scene also finds a reflection in the Scooby-Doo movie when the characters crash into boxes with their Mystery Machine.
How about Robin Buckley wearing a dress and hills that are not typical for her, being a reference to Scooby-Doo doing the same in the movie.
Or Vecna's tentacles that he constantly used to hold those who he managed to capture compared to the sausages that served the same purpose in Scooby-Doo 2002 movie.
Who knows, maybe someday we'll see a Scooby-Doo reboot in the Stranger Things setting. It is hilarious how fans found something in common between two completely different projects.
It will most likely remain a mystery whether these similarities are intentional or not. Our guess, probably not.
But still, it is great that the show has a fanbase that is so attentive to details.
Finding similarities between Stranger Things and other movies/shows is probably the only thing left to do while waiting for the season 5 of this amazing show.
