The quality of Community varied greatly depending on the season, but this character was criminally overlooked.

Community is a show about a study group that slowly became much more to each other than just school mates. Jeff and Britta are essentially the people responsible for the group’s existence in the first place, and yet Britta is not acknowledged enough.

In addition to never getting any credit, Britta was actually becoming worse with each season. Once a bright woman who treated her education seriously, Britta ended up being a parent-disrespecting dumbo with no prospects of a better life.

If you take a close look at a season 1 Britta and a season 6 Britta, you might think that they are two different people, and you would be right. This character was basically reduced to a running gag – Britta was often the laughingstock of the group (even her name became a verb that means “to mess up”).

Why did Community turn its best character into the one used purely for comedic purposes? That’s a question we might never know the answer to, but we are allowed to feel sorry for Britta and all of her unrealized potential.

Although her storyline with Rick the Subway-later-Honda guy was endearing, Britta never got the attention and screen time she deserved. She didn’t even have much of character development over the course of six seasons!

However, what is extremely frustrating to most Community fans is the fact that Britta didn’t even get a proper goodbye or a satisfying ending. While the other remaining members of the original study group – Jeff, Abed, and Annie – all got some kind of closure and a hint at a bright future ahead of them, Britta was kind of just there.

She had no clear career path (despite her aspirations to become a psychologist), and that felt underwhelming to say the least. Considering that the Community movie is in the works, there is still hope that Britta will get her long-overdue send-off. Fingers crossed!
