Cobra Kai Is No Longer Netflix Top Show After This Mediocre Documentary Starts Trending
Showbiz dark secrets just diverted everyone’s attention from Netflix’s most anticipated arrival of the month.
Cobra Kai ’s new season has been awaited by fans more than anything else, but the whole success with Netflix ’s American audience didn’t last that long after all.
As FlixPatrol has recently shared, the martial arts dramedy series has been thrown off the number one position on the streaming’s US top 10 chart only a week after its latest season was released.
Ironically, the show just gave way to a brand-new averagely rated documentary that rose to Netflix’s most-watched movie of the week within the first two days since its initial release.
Dropped on Netflix’s platform on July 24, Dirty Pop: The Boy Band Scam follows the rise and fall of music mogul Lou Pearlman who back in the day paved a way to worldwide fame for the 1990s’ boy bands like Backstreet Boys, *NSYNC and O-Town.
The documentary dives deep into all the controversies that Pearlman’s name has been long associated with, including some major allegations regarding the fraud talent manager’s attempts to exploit the bands for his own profit.
The brand-new crime docuseries consists of only three episodes and lasts around two hours in total, though, considering how much love Netflix’s viewers may still hold for those boy bands, it’s pretty understandable why the documentary was quick to garner everyone’s attention.
However, Netflix viewers are so far the only ones to give praise to Dirty Pop: The Boy Band Scam. The documentary is currently holding an average score of 46% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, with some claiming that the series doesn’t add that much insightful information to the whole story, which has been perused by other filmmakers for years.
Cobra Kai, despite being dethroned, is doing just fine on the second place in the streaming’s American top, also keeping scores of 78% and 87% from professionals and viewers respectively.
