In the era of reboots, there are still those who are strongly opposed to stirring up the past.

Lately, almost every news we get is about some show or movie from the past getting a spinoff or reboot of some kind.

And most of the time, the fans are excited and the actors of the parent shows are happy to get together again. But as it turns out, this is not always the rule.

It turns out that the idea of a future sequel to the legendary 2006 film The Devil Wears Prada didn't go over so well with fans and even the film's cast.

Grossing $326 million, the film had Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep and Emily Blunt as main stars. The comedy was a smash hit with a budget of only $35 to $41 million.

And now that almost every other famous movie is getting a reboot, the question is, could The Devil Wears Prada work?

After all, Hollywood managers seem to look at the great movies of the past and decide which of them will make the most profit.

However, the creative people involved often think the opposite. The same is true for The Devil Wears Prada. Anne Hathaway doesn't think much of the idea.

In an interview with The View, the actress once opened up about her opinion on the idea. And it turns out that she doesn't want to see it happen in the future.

The Devil Wears Prada sequel, even though it has never been announced, could never work today, she thinks.

The central concern is actually the main theme of the film, as the plot revolves around the lives of the characters and the process of creating a fashion magazine – a form of print media that is supposedly dying today.

Although the fans generally agreed with the beloved actress and are not so sure that the reboot should happen, they still found a way how it could actually work, even better with the reason Hathaway mentioned.

"Now I would think that the print media dying would be a successful plotline for a sequel that shows how that impacts each character/how they reinvent or fizzle out.

Who are they when they're forced to reinvent, and how andy can lead this effort while being paranoid about potentially losing another lover to her consuming job," Redditor tlinclay71 said.

Well, the question is still hanging in the air. Although Hathaway and her truest fans believe that some things are better left untouched, there are those with an open mind who still believe that anything can be done.
