The Show Lacked A Definitive Conclusion

However, the series ended on a rather ambiguous note, leaving fans wondering about Shelby's ultimate fate and desperate for some sort of definitive conclusion to the character's story.

A full-length feature film was supposed to tie up all the loose ends, but for now the project remains in production limbo, neither moving forward nor officially canceled.

With the final chapter of Shelby's story postponed indefinitely, fans were hoping that perhaps this would allow the show to return for at least one more season.

A new update from Cillian Murphy himself may bring some good news to desperate fans, as the actor doesn't mind if that happens, but has one condition.

Murphy Will Return If There Is A Great Script

During his recent appearance on BBC Radio 4's Desert Island Discs, Murphy revealed that he would love to reprise his most iconic role, whether it be in a movie or the show's seventh season, if there is a great script.

According to the actor, he knows that the show's creator, Steven Knight, can come up with a worthy script and if that actually happens, he "will be there," even if the story would revolve around "50-year-old Tommy Shelby."

Fans are hoping that the plans to wrap up the story of the series will eventually come to fruition, one way or another, as leaving it with Shelby just "riding off into the sunset" felt rather anticlimactic.

Others, however, feel that the show was good while it lasted, and since the last season was already inferior to its predecessors, no finale at all is better than a rushed and underwhelming ending.

Unfortunately, there have been no new updates on the status of the Peaky Blinders movie.
