When it comes to entertainment, Amazon aims to appeal to the widest possible audience without prioritizing one age group or another. As a result, the Prime Video library has an incredible variety of genres that can satisfy both demanding users and those coming to the streaming service for the first time. But of course, as with traditional broadcasting, a huge chunk of the ratings is taken up by all sorts of police procedurals and action thrillers — the very same shows we used to call 'shows for dads'.

That's why Prime Video, which is trying to break records in the face of stiff competition from other platforms, is putting more than a little emphasis on action series. Among them are the smash hit Reacher ( which has managed to attract a fairly diverse audience not just dads), Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan and, of course, the incredibly controversial The Terminal List.

The reason for its controversy was the degree to which critics and audiences were divided. Of course, this is not uncommon in television, but in this case the stark contrast created quite a stir, which only played into Amazon's hands as The Terminal List received even more attention. Audiences love it, and high ratings have not only secured a second season, but also a looming prequel. Plus, Chris Pratt's character is set to return, according to intriguing new photos.

Loved by Audiences and Hated by Critics

While Jack Ryan and Reacher have received about the same amount of critical and popular acclaim, The Terminal List has received strong reviews from audiences, but has been panned by critics.

Based on the novel of the same name by former Navy SEAL officer Jack Carr, The Terminal List follows Lieutenant Commander James Reece (Chris Pratt), whose platoon of US Navy SEALs was destroyed during a mission. Upon returning home, Reece was devastated to find that he had no memory of the incident and began to doubt his own culpability in the deaths of his friends. It was only as he delved deeper into the matter that the worst happened: his wife and daughter were murdered. Driven by revenge, the protagonist is determined to find out who is behind the conspiracy and why someone benefited from the deaths of his loved ones.

With an audience rating of 94% on Rotten Tomatoes, the show was hated by critics, who condemned it for its shallow and uninvolving plot and weak direction, resulting in a rating of only 40%.

A New Glimpse from the Set

Nevertheless, the ratings for the series have been high, so a second season is in the works, which will be based on the next book, True Believer, and will focus on another central character, Lieutenant Commander Reece's best friend, former Navy SEAL and current CIA Ground Branch operative Ben Edwards, played by Taylor Kitsch. Meanwhile, fans of The Terminal List will get to see the prequel titled Dark Wolf. Moreover, Prime Video recently released an intriguing first look.

In addition to a blurry photo of Kitsch's character, we can see Reece standing in a photo with another operative. Chris Pratt's character looks younger, and that's because the story will tell of events five years before the original, when Reece and Edwards were SEAL teammates. However, the focus will be on the latter and his development as a CIA agent.

The series will also star Luke Hemsworth, Essam Ferris, Sheena V. Henderson, Dar Salim, Tom Hopper and more. The release date is unknown, but we should expect a release in 2025 at the earliest.
