Chris Pratt is a wholesome man and a true professional…but dropping his trousers in front of a co-star and then bragging about it was not something we expected of him.

Nude scenes in movies are always tiresome.

They are complex on many levels, regardless of the context. They have to be filmed the right way so they don’t reveal anything extra; they have to ensure all the actors involved are comfortable because they are not the same people as their characters; after all, they are immensely awkward for everyone including the filming crew.

For these and many other reasons, there’s an entire unspoken code of honor when it comes to these kinds of scenes. Today, comfort, consent, and professional attitude are king, and that’s great — but sometimes, even the most professional actors get tired of trying to do things the right way. That’s when they might go rogue in the nude.

Chris Pratt is undeniably a true professional, but even he once violated the “nude scene protocol” so severely he had to be reprimanded. It happened during the filming of his favorite TV show Parks and Recreation, and the problem the actor was having was that his co-star Amy Poehler didn’t react to the fake nudity properly.

So he got rid of “fake” in this phrase and left only “nudity.”

“We were shooting a scene where my character turns up naked at my co-star’s door. I was wearing skin-colored underwear and I wasn’t getting quite the right reaction I was hoping for. It was late in the day so I decided to improvise and drop my trousers for the take…[Amy’s] reaction was great. It was the take they used,” the actor shared on The Graham Norton Show.

Despite the take turning out great, Pratt was obviously bashed by the NBC network. The execs were extremely unhappy with his cheesy stunt, so they sent him a letter.

“I got a letter from NBC’s HR department that said, ‘There is protocol about nude scenes. This is not a joke and you are being reprimanded and you can’t go around telling people about this like some kind of joke,'” Chris Pratt added.

Well, that was quite unfortunate that he only remembered about this letter after he’d already told the story “like some kind of joke,” wasn’t it?

What’s your take on Pratt’s nude stunt?
