It looks like box office maverick franchise is preparing to call it quits after the upcoming release of 'Jurassic World Dominion'.

The reboot of Steven Spielberg 's beloved original 1993's 'Jurassic Park' came out in 2015, introducing new main character Owen Grady (Chris Pratt ) and surpassing all expectations in terms of audience numbers and fandom recognition. And now, after the equally successful 2018 film 'Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom', Universal Pictures is ready to say goodbye to its extremely profitable franchise. Or maybe that's just Chris Pratt's opinion.

In recent interview for the Today Show, Chris Pratt broke the silence about the future of the dinosaur saga by stating that the upcoming film will be the grand finale to the franchise that it deserves.

"This is it! This is the finale! I feel like the whole movie is that, it's like 30 years in the making, this is the sixth Jurassic film and it's the end of this franchise. I really do think it's the end. You've got the legacy cast back, Sam Neill, Laura Dern and Jeff Goldblum, plus the cast of Jurassic World all converged, our storylines converging in a way that is very much a finale," Pratt said.

And if you really think about it, it does sound pretty convincing. The upcoming film will indeed see members of the original cast returning, including Sam Neill, Laura Dern and Jeff Goldblum, so why not end the story on such a high note? However, if the third installment of the reboot earns Universal another huge return, studio executives may reconsider giving the franchise a well-deserved rest.

'Jurassic World Dominion ' will hit theatres on June 10, 2022.
