Cap would not be proud of this.

Even though there are many great movies coming out every year in every genre imaginable to satisfy the cravings of all the cinephiles out there, people still love to return to some of the most iconic movies from the past. These movies don't even have to be good, but they do have to have the nostalgia factor to bring viewers to the theater.

Luckily for those who crave an actual Y2K aesthetic and are looking for a fun movie to watch with friends on a weekend, Netflix is about to add a true masterpiece of the 2000s.

Is Not Another Teen Movie Good?

Back in 2001, when the world was already tired of school-based coming-of-age romantic comedies, Not Another Teen Movie was meant to be a sarcastic parody response to them all. The movie called out all the overused tropes and made the story as absurd as possible, while also relying on a dirty sense of humor.

Was the movie, directed by Joel Gallen, any good? Well, critics did not find it entertaining, giving it a 31% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Viewers, on the other hand, were much more generous, giving it a 55% rating. That's still not enough for a certified fresh rating, but it better reflects the fun nature of the movie.

Commercially, the movie was a success. With a budget of $15 million, it managed to make $66 million at the box office. Maybe the moviegoers understood better the concept of the movie, which was never meant to be taken seriously. Or, like many of those watching Not Another Teen Movie at home today, they just couldn't resist the charm of Chris Evans.

The young actor, now best known for his portrayal of Captain America in various MCU films, played a typical jock Jake Wyler. He starred opposite Chyler Leigh, Jaime Pressly, Eric Christian Olsen and Mia Kirshner. Although the movie was critically panned, Evans' comedic performance was highly praised.

If you've never seen Not Another Teen Movie, but want to check it out for yourself, you're in luck because it's coming to Netflix soon. So be sure to tune in to the streamer on August 1 and prepare for the wave of nostalgia coming your way.
