It's never easy to say goodbye, even to the one you hated before.

Chicago Med has just released its final episode of season 8, and with it, a lot of fan emotions have been unleashed.

As a long-running medical drama that premiered in 2015, the show managed to keep viewers engaged with the series because of its memorable storylines and constant character development.

The show followed both the professional and personal lives of the hospital's medical staff.

And it seems that some of the characters made more impact on the audience of the show than the others. Even if they had a controversial personality before.

That goes about Dr. Will Halstead, brilliantly portrayed by Nick Gehlfuss. Turned out that the character that was there since the very beginning is now departing the show and will no longer be a part of it in the next season.

He resigns and promptly heads to Seattle, Washington to reunite with his former love interest, Dr. Natalie Manning.

It's a bittersweet way to end Halstead's time on Chicago Med, and fans have a lot of feelings about it. In fact, social media has already been flooded with reactions to Gehlfuss' departure.

Reddit even has threaded with titles like "I will stop watching the show if he leaves," with Halstead apologists agitating other fans to do the same.

"To me, Will Halstead is the face of Chicago Med, and without it, it's just boring, like it was boring for the first few episodes without Will before he came back. sure I'm invested in Med, but I think it's ending soon at this point if Will leaves, IMO," Redditor maxdragonxii said.

Some fans are still hoping they will have at least something of their favorite character in the future.

"My major hope is via the next seasons we at least get updates on their lives, like Will and Nat got engaged, they got married, they bought a house, they had a baby, they got a dog ect," Redditor Legal-Syrup-2578 said.

Well, let's hope the fans get what they want, but if not, there's always a way to binge-watch the series from the beginning and get 8 seasons of Will again.

You can do so on Peacock TV, Prime Video, Vudu or Apple TV.
