It's natural to feel like you've outgrown something.

One Chicago franchise gave fans the opportunity to explore different professional worlds up close. And Chicago Med is the greatest example of true-to-life medical drama.

Created by Dick Wolf and Matt Olmstead, the series premiered on NBC in 2015 and follows the lives and relationships of various staff members in the emergency department at Gaffney Chicago Medical Center.

Lots of characters seem to have a definite closure at the end of season 8 of the show. This includes April Sexton.

Yaya DaCosta's character has been a major part of Chicago Med since the beginning. DaCosta played the role of a bit of a know-it-all nurse (which was annoying to fans at times).

One of the major storylines that April was a part of was actually her relationship with Ethan Choi. Though their love life seemed to fall apart in the season 6 finale, which even caused her to leave the show for a while, they still found a way to be happy together at the end of season 8.

So, after their wedding in the season finale, it looks like April will not be returning to the show, and the actress herself opened up about it in a recent interview.

In fact, she revealed the one and only condition that she feels could bring her character back to the show.

“The wisdom that she brought to the cases, the way that the doctors could trust her to just finish their sentences and start doing what was needed before they’re even asked, I think that kind of gave her a lot of credibility and expectation that she would be a doctor,” DaCosta shared in an interview with TV Insider.

April's comeback as a doctor would certainly thrill Chicago Med fans who have enjoyed her arc over the years. Many fans have said that despite her Mary Sueness, it was obvious that everything she did on the show, every decision she made, was for the sake of her patients.

She loved and respected them so much that she wasn't afraid to speak up when she felt they were being mistreated. And that is the kind of character every show needs.
