Chicago Fire’s Last Episode Changed the Game and Fans Are Excited
The latest episode left a lasting impression on Chicago Fire fans, shaking up the status quo in Firehouse 51.
Summary:
- In Chicago Fire S12 E06, Casey and Brett were married, but that wasn’t the only notable event.
- Severide returned once again, making fans happy, and seemingly hinted that he’d stay around this time.
- Violet became the new Paramedic-in-Charge, but the excitement didn’t last long due to the new PFC’s questionable methods.
Sylvie Brett and Matt Casey’s wedding was indeed a bittersweet ordeal for both firefighters and us fans at home. Port in the Storm changed quite a lot in Chicago Fire and left a number of hints at the further development of things at Firehouse 51, many of which impressed the show’s fans. Here are the most important changes — and how fans reacted to them in the aftermath of this eventful episode.
Obviously, Casey and Brett Got Married
Chicago Fire fans were absolutely starving for Matt Casey, and his re-appearance on the show made everyone’s day. As Kelly Severide pointed out, his leave this time “felt permanent,” and it makes sense: with Casey and Brett both moving to Portland now, it’s safe to say they won’t be frequenting the Windy City anymore.
However, as Casey told Severide, this wasn’t the last we’d see of him. We’re pretty convinced both the newly-weds will return for the finale. And it’d be so worth it if the last episode’s trend continues — because, of course, the viewers absolutely loved Casey’s entry: it was enough to make our entire day (or, rather, night).
The great coincidence of this episode’s call being from a canceled wedding expo which saved the day was lowkey lame in fans’ eyes, but hey. It worked out, and everyone needs some miracle in their lives, especially on their wedding day!
Firehouse 51 Will Undergo Some Changes
As a result of Sylvie’s quitting from the Firehouse, Violet Mikami — who, by the way, seems to have deepened her and Carver’s connection at the wedding — became the new Paramedic-in-Charge.
At this, the good news ended for her: now that she’s a direct subordinate of the new Paramedic Field Chief, her life’s going to turn to hell.
Fans largely despise the new PFC, and rightfully so. While the mean psycho boss trope is admittedly overused, we see where it leads: the Chief wants to appoint Violet’s new partner herself, creating more tension and drama. After all, it’s crucial for paramedics to have a good connection and understanding with their partner.
Another great news is Kelly Severide’s return which, this time around, may just last for once. As everyone’s favorite arson-obsessed firefighter told Casey between the cigar puffs, he loves fire investigations, but not as much as he loves Stella. Fans are excited to see Severide back again, especially if he actually stays around.
Most fans agree that Port in the Storm was a great episode, if not without its hiccups.
