Sorry, Stellaride fans, but this has to change.

Summary:

  • Chicago Fire is an NBC procedural drama created by Dick Wolf.
  • In season 12, Sylvie Brett will leave the show after marrying Matt Casey, leaving Stella and Severide as the main couple.
  • Fans are concerned that the couple lacks the chemistry to carry the drama portion of the show.

Season 12 of Chicago Fire is not going to be an easy one for the viewers of the show as well as the characters in the universe. The upcoming episode, Port in the Storm, which will be released on February 28th, promises to be the most emotional one yet, as everyone will have to say goodbye to Matt Casey and Sylvie Brett.

Earlier this season, the show already lost another cast member, Alberto Rosende. The actor was suddenly written off in the very first episode, leaving Blake Gallo's borderline-romantic friendship with Violet Mikami unexplored.

With these three leaving Chicago for good, Station 51's days may be numbered. As much as viewers love the team's camaraderie, every TV drama has to have a place for love. Stella and Severide, the main couple left on the show, certainly won't make up for what the show has lost. If anything, they might as well break up.

Are Stellaride Still Together in Chicago Fire Season 12?

There wasn't a single Chicago Fire viewer who didn't wait patiently for Kelly Severide to return throughout season 11 of the show. However, their hopes were dashed when he left in season 12. Even though we were promised to see more of Severide this season, Taylor Kinney's leave of absence still seems to be in full force.

Not only is this driving fans of the character crazy to be teased like this without any real payoff, but it is slowly destroying what was left of Stellaride. Their journey was always far from peaceful, but at this point it feels completely loveless. Who wants to watch a married couple fighting all the time?

While some Chicago Fire fans have recently turned their backs on the couple and given up all hope, others have been pointing out the lack of chemistry for years. Though it has been difficult to pinpoint exactly what was wrong with the pair, it has now become even more obvious and easy to crack.

“There is no connection, no rapport between them, on screen. Even eye contact is more like friends not lovers. Not sure if it is poor direction or the actors themselves, but it doesn’t feel “real,”” Redditor Erthgoddss said.

We already know that we'll see Kelly Severide back from yet another investigation for Brett and Casey's wedding, but it's unlikely that the celebration of romance will bring him closer to his own wife. Maybe letting him go completely would have been the best case scenario for everyone involved, but so far Chicago Fire shows no signs of planning to do that.

To see what awaits Stellaride in Chicago Fire season 12, tune in to NBC on Wednesdays and don't miss another episode.
