Chicago Fire Won't Last Long, Fans Claim
The audience of Dick Wolf’s iconic firefighter show doesn’t have much hope for it.
Summary:
- Chicago Fire Season 12 premiers on January 17, featuring Taylor Kinney who finally rejoined the show.
- Many fans noticed the decline in the series' quality and claim that Chicago Fire won’t last long like this.
- The show has issues with character arcs and recycling stories which poorly affect the audience experience.
Chicago Fire has been going strong for over a decade now, but as it happens with most long-running shows, the series is becoming weaker and bleaker as time passes. At least, that’s what Chicago Fire fans claim as Season 12 of the show grows closer: admittedly, Taylor Kinney’s return is not reason enough for optimism.
Chicago Fire Fans Aren’t Enthusiastic About It Anymore
While we’re out here discussing Taylor Kinney’s return, the future of Stellaride, and Mouch’s fate in Season 12, some fans don’t seem to care that much about the show anymore. Over at the Chicago Fire subreddit, many viewers are expressing their growing frustration and disappointment with the series, claiming it won’t last long.
“Just finished binging the last 2 seasons, and I'm not optimistic about the future. Matt's gone, Taylor Kinney is clearly just there for the paycheck, Carter is boring, and this show isn't interesting enough to continue if they're going to lean on Stella as the lead. Herman is the only thing keeping me around at this point,” wrote goyotes78.
Their revelation sparked the discussion of Chicago Fire’s current state, and most fans tend to agree with the OP: in their eyes, the show is increasingly lacking.
“Yeah, it's so different now, more dull and dark. There was much more humor in the earlier seasons too, and more interesting calls. Now it's all a weird drama I feel. I don't think the show is gonna last long with how it is now. I hope it gets better tho, and I will still be watching,” user diderdoot shared.
Other fans predict that, after Brett and Gallo leave, the situation is going to get more dire on Chicago Fire. Very few people express cautious optimism about the show’s future, mostly thanks to Kelly Severide’s return, but for most, it’s still not enough.
Fans Share What Ruined Chicago Fire for Them
Regarding the current state and the future of Chicago Fire, many fans are discontent; however, some of them also try to pinpoint the issues that ruined the show for them. Long story short, everything comes back to the writing and the characters — the core aspects that admittedly started declining a while ago.
Whenever a show has been running for a while, it often faces the problem of cast members leaving to try out other projects. Chicago Fire, too, fell victim to this several times and will again in Season 12; the problem is that the show doesn’t handle the replacements well, and many character arcs and relationships remain broken.
Reddit user Educational-Row-4071 pointed out another Chicago Fire issue, too.
“That’s the problem when a show runs many seasons, the storylines get recycled and rehashed and it just gets stale. Now watching just feels like hard work: there’s none of the action or proper drama anymore,” they wrote.
Whether you agree or disagree with these judgments, we’ll see if Chicago Fire fixes all these issues in a week: Season 12 will premiere on January 17, 2024. Stay tuned for updates, and don’t forget to hype yourself up for Severide and Mouch’s return!
