Chicago Fire Finally Names Chief Boden’s Replacement: Here’s Where You Have Seen Him Before
Firehouse 51 is in good hands now.
As soon as the news broke that Eamonn Walker, who portrayed Chief Boden on Chicago Fire since the show's beginning, was stepping down to a smaller role, viewers began guessing who would take his place. While some were hoping to see a member of Firehouse 51 take the seat, that wouldn't be possible in just a few weeks.
For now, Chief Boden will be replaced by an equal. The new chief, portrayed by Dermot Mulroney, may be a big change that both the characters in the universe and the viewers behind the screens will have to adjust to.
Who Will Replace Chief Boden on Chicago Fire?
Not much is known about the team's new leader, but just enough to tease viewers ahead of the season 13 premiere. Chief Dom Pascal, who takes over from Boden, is a newcomer from Miami who has been in a chief position for a while and has his own management style that doesn't exactly match Boden's.
Although we suspect that Herrmann will do his best to get the position Boden wanted him to have, the road to get there won't be easy and may take most of the upcoming season 13. Until then, Chief Pascal will be in control of everything that goes on at Firehouse 51, and fan-favorite characters will have to learn to coexist with him.
Considering how many losses the show suffered in season 12, it is only expected that Chicago Fire will expand its cast and invite more actors. One thing viewers can be sure of is that Dermot Mulroney will be a great addition to the cast dynamic.
What Roles Is Dermot Mulroney Best Known For?
While Chicago Fire won't be the actor's first TV series credit, he's much better known for his work in various films. Beginning his career in the 80's, Mulroney starred in many romantic films, dramas and westerns, making a name for himself among moviegoers.
Some of the actor's best-known films include the 1987 TV movie Long Gone, in which he portrayed Jamie Weeks, The Last Outlaw, in which Mulroney starred opposite Mickey Rourke, and the late-90s romantic comedy My Best Friend's Wedding, which was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Musical or Comedy Score.
You may also recognize the actor from Shameless, where he portrayed Sean Pierce in seasons 5, 6 and 8, or another popular firefighting show Station 19 as Greg Tanner. Either way, Dermot Mulroney has enough acting credits to be sure he'll be a great addition to any cast.
If you are interested in seeing how things will go for Firehouse 51 now that Boden is out, be sure to tune in to season 13 of Chicago Fire on September 25, 2024 on NBC to not miss the premiere episode.
