After the spinoff’s cancellation, there still seems to be some room for yet another brand new series.

NCIS fans may not be happy with this news, but CBS appears to have some schedule space (and money) for welcoming one more police procedural drama to its collection, making it clear that there’s officially no way for NCIS: Hawai’i to ever come back to the screen.

According to Deadline, the network just returned again to its long-planned project titled Einstein which comes as CBS’ own adaptation of a German series of the same name.

Initially released back in 2017 and canceled after three seasons in 2019, Einstein follows Felix Winterberg, Albert Einstein’s great-great-grandson who actually nobody knows about.

Still, Felix’s origin might be quite a curious matter for his surroundings since his genius mind, inherited from his world-famous relative, allowed him to become the youngest professor of theoretical physics in a prestigious German university.

Suffering from a fatal illness, Felix gets into a huge trouble with the police and now has to become the law’s helping hand in solving crimes before the inevitable approaching death finds him.

CBS’ decision to revive this idea for a brand new show comes as the network’s third attempt to do so within the last 5 years.

Andy Breckman and Randy Zisk, known for working on CBS’ comedy-drama series Monk, expressed their interest in picking the story up for the American audience back in 2019, though they soon completely changed the show’s perspective and vision of the police after George Floyd’s murder in 2020.

Since then, there has been no updates about Einstein whatsoever, however, the network’s recent decision may also mean some big plot changes for the American version of the series, since it’s been four eventful years for Breckman and Zisk to ponder over before coming up with a definite idea.

So far there’s no potential release date for American Einstein yet, though the show’s creators stressed that they wouldn’t rush with the series to fit in one of the upcoming TV schedules, thus making it clear that Einstein might hit the screens sometime in 2025 or later.
