It’s not so much about crimes anymore.

Big changes are coming for Elsbeth ’s approaching second season, and those have nothing to do with all the intricate new crimes that the show’s quirky detective will delve into.

Elsbeth’s second installment has no exact release date yet and will presumably arrive on the screens sometime later this year. But some major details about what the future holds for Elsbeth and her position of a private investigator at NYPD have already been dropped after the show’s lead actress spilled some tea ahead of the next season’s premiere.

Talking about what’s coming next for her character, Elsbeth’s actress Carrie Preston revealed the second installment is likely to have its fans caught off guard since there won’t be so much attention for the lead character’s job routine anymore.

According to the actress, Elsbeth will now turn to its main characters’ personal side, unveiling some more details about their background stories.

Addressing highly anticipated plot twists that many are still expecting to see in Elsbeth’s brand new season, Preston said that “there will be delving not just into her past and personal life, but also Captain C.W. Wagner’s, played by Wendell Pierce, and Carra Patterson’s Officer Kaya Blanke”.

Since Elsbeth’s personal life has almost zero screen time except for several mentions of her son, Preston suggested that the show’s biggest mystery may finally be uncovered with Elsbeth’s son Teddy coming up on stage, and then hinted that “we will probably be deepening that too in Season 2.”

Elsbeth’s first season came to its end back in May leaving fans dumbfounded about their huge delusion regarding a plot twist that in fact never happened.

By the time of the last episode’s release on CBS, Elsbeth’s future at NYPD was still a big question after Wagner figured out that she was digging up some dirt on him. The happy ending did take place though and there’s not a single reason for fans to expect Elsbeth’s return to Chicago anytime soon.

Now that Elsbeth’s future at NYPD is still secured, it may in fact be time to set the crimes apart for a bit. The show’s second season is set to kick off on CBS this fall.
