Brie Larson's Most Forgotten Role: What Did She Do Before Marvel?
Brie Larson had an impressive career that spanned decades before the world ever knew her as Captain Marvel. Which is her most overlooked role?
That is a tough question to answer. Brie Larson has had parts in many iconic movies, including 13 Going on 30, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World (which is considered her breakthrough role), and 21 Jump Street, but that is more or less common knowledge.
In 2013, the actress landed the role of Rachel in Community. Due to her busy acting schedule, she only appeared in three episodes as Abed's girlfriend.
Funnily enough, Larson's continued absence from the show was actually referenced in season 6 when Abed said that if anyone was watching the study group, they might have questions like, "What happened to that girl I'm dating?"
Community is well-known for subtly breaking the fourth wall, and Brie's exit was handled perfectly.
Larson's performance in Community went completely over our heads at the time (and she was completely unrecognizable, which speaks volumes about her acting talent).
Years later, in 2015, Brie starred in Room as a young woman who was forced to give birth to a child of rape and live in captivity for years.
This movie earned her critical acclaim, several awards, including the Academy Award for Best Actress, and global recognition.
Since 2019, Larson is best known for her role as Carol Danvers / Captain Marvel in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. She has appeared in Captain Marvel, Avengers: Endgame, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, and Ms. Marvel.
In 2023, we will see her one more time in The Marvels!
Brie didn't actually want to take on such a high-profile role at first, but then she saw it as an opportunity to empower young girls.
We are glad she did because we can't imagine the MCU without the strong independent superhero that Carol Danvers has come to be!
Larson has just made a comeback to the big screen after a hiatus in Fast X, where she plays Tess. Critics praised her performance, but were surprised to see such a major star cast in a "surprisingly small role."

The actress has been leaning toward independent movies and smaller parts for years, so it's not that unexpected – Brie still shines bright in whatever role she is in.
