Brie Larson Deserves an Emmy For THAT Lessons in Chemistry E1 Monologue Alone

It's a great year to be a Brie Larson fan. Not only does she return as Captain Marvel in the MCU 's The Marvels this November, she is already commanding our screens as Elizabeth Zott in Apple TV 's Lessons in Chemistry.

Her heroine dreams of becoming a scientist, but there's this little thing called the 1950s society and its firm belief that women belong in the kitchen. So be it, says Zott, and accepts a job as a cooking show host — only to try and teach housewives something way more interesting than recipes.

Basically, the first episode — namely, its final monologue — is the essence of what the show has in store for everyone who believes women are only good for housekeeping and pleasing their husbands.

At the end of episode 1, titled Little Miss Hastings, Brie Larson's character delivers a heart-wrenching monologue about how not everything in science — and in life — can be controlled. "Things just turn out messy," notes Zott, seconds away from being cut off air.

"Sometimes, you will burn a lasagna," she says. "So I guess it's leftovers tonight. Children, set the table. Your mother needs a moment for herself."

The monologue has left fans of Apple TV's new hit speechless — but when they finally found the words to express their feelings, they were "Give Brie Larson an Emmy for that, like, right now."

According to the show's subreddit, the episode 1 final monologue might as well be Larson's Emmy clip, and we are yet to see the majority of the first season's episodes. Lessons in Chemistry will have six more episodes, with the final one scheduled for November 24.
