Bridgerton’s Most Notable Mastermind Will Lose Her Grip in S3, Actress Teases
And it is not Lady Whistledown we’re talking about.
Summary:
- Bridgerton is a Netflix romantic period drama based on Julia Quinn’s novel franchise of the same name.
- Although the show is primarily focused on Bridgerton siblings, there are many supporting characters who play a major role in the plot.
- Adjoa Andoh, who portrays Lady Danbury on the show, teases some major changes for her character in season 3.
One thing that will keep Bridgerton exciting for as long as it airs is constant change. Viewers get an intense love story full of romantic tropes and beloved clichés packed into just 8 episodes, and then the couple changes, passing the metaphorical baton to the next sibling down the line.
While this sometimes makes fans miss the previous leads, this scheme adds to the excitement of what's to come. Season 3, however, will be special in more ways than one. Not only will it switch to another trope, from ‘enemies to lovers’ to ‘friends to lovers,’ but it won't introduce any major new players.
For the first time in Bridgerton history, the show will explore the already existing bond between the third Bridgerton son, Colin, and the third Featherington daughter, Penelope. But don't worry, that doesn't mean there won't be any surprises.
Will Lady Danbury Be In Bridgerton Season 3?
Although the main characters may change from one season to the next, the society in which they exist most certainly will not.
Season 3 of Bridgerton will welcome back the same characters viewers have come to know and love, including the Mondrich family, the insufferable Lady Cowper and her daughter Cressida, Queen Charlotte and, of course, Lady Agatha Danbury.
Brilliantly portrayed by Adjoa Andoh in the show's first two seasons, Lady Danbury played a key role in the matches between the Duke of Hastings and Daphne Bridgerton, as well as Anthony Bridgerton and Miss Kate Sharma. The upcoming season, however, will mark a notable change in attitude.
“She is rich, quirky, and travels her own road unapologetically, and for Season 3, [I also have] what we know about Lady Danbury from Queen Charlotte. I have really been excited to show a Lady Danbury who also has wobbles. In this season, you see how she copes with not having everything tightly under her control,” she said.
Even before the release of Bridgerton's highly acclaimed prequel, Queen Charlotte: The Bridgerton Story, Lady Agatha Danbury was one of the series' most beloved supporting characters. Her quick wit and keen eye, which could spot a good match a mile away, made her completely irreplaceable.
Whether the third season of Bridgerton will push Andoh's character to focus more on her own life or make her accept that she was wrong about someone's compatibility, we'll have to wait and see. The love story of Colin Bridgerton and Penelope Featherington will premiere on Netflix on May 16.
