Bridgerton Star Reveals Unexpected Connection To Kim Kardashian
Since her acting breakthrough in 2018, many people will recognize Nicola Coughlan as Clare from Derry Girls or Hannah from Harlots, but the majority of her growing fanbase knows her as Penelope Featherington from Bridgerton.
The Irish actress made her debut in the Netflix regency era romance series in 2020 and has continued to gain fame from the popular series since.
Although the Netflix series is based on the books by Julia Quinn, there have been many adaptations made to the period drama. Nicola revealed via Twitter that one of the biggest inspirations for the Featherington family was none other than the Kardashian-Jenners. The Featherington family includes ambitious mother Portia and two elder sisters, with Nicola revealing that she likes to think of her character as the "Kim" of the family, which would only be fitting.
As it turns out, Bridgerton fans weren't the only ones excited to learn about the link between the two famous families. The iconic Kim Kardashian herself responded to Nicola's tweet voicing her genuine excitement to learn that her family was an inspiration for a family she too had become a fan of.
This wasn't the first Twitter exchange between Nicola and Kim, with the Bridgerton actress having previously replied to a tweet posted by Kim who asked her fans if she should watch the steamy Netflix drama, to which Nicola replied by telling her yes. This was the start of the Twitter acquaintanceship between the two that fans can't get enough of.
Besides The Kardashians being the talk of Bridgerton actors and actresses behind the scenes, Nicola revealed another connection between Bridgerton and Kim, one that links the pair even closer together.
As it turns out, they have the same corset designer. Designer Mr. Pearl crafted a corset for Kim Kardashian to wear to the 2019 Met Gala, and the very next corset he designed was for Penelope. Although Bridgerton is set in the 1800s, Nicola could argue that her character and Kim Kardashian have the same great taste in style.
Nicola, who has expressed that she is a huge fan of Kim as well as a lover of Keeping Up with the Kardashians was thrilled to learn that Kim had become a self-proclaimed Bridger-stan after watching the love story between the Duke and Duchess unfold over the first season. Fans of Bridgerton and Kim are eagerly waiting to see if the relationship between the two grows into anything more, or maybe becomes an in-person meeting for both women to have a fan-girl moment. One thing for sure is they will have lots to talk about.
