Jonathan Bailey Cried More Than Your Average Dude During Bridgerton's Season 2 Filming
There's a lot to love about Jonathan Bailey, his non-toxic masculinity is a cherry on top.
Bridgerton Season 3 is officially on the way. The season revolving around the romance between Colin Bridgerton and Penelope Featherington is likely to premiere in spring or summer 2023. Other beloved characters will appear in the season, too. Probably, the most awaited appearance is that of Anthony Bridgerton, who won the hearts of many viewers during Season 2, focused on his and Kate Sharma's romance.
Simone Ashley, portraying Kate Sharma, recently talked about her experience on the set of Season 3. She shared with AP that since Jonathan Bailey and she moved from being protagonists of the story, they both managed to relax and have fun while filming the historical-romance series. This experience has apparently become a fun reprieve from the heavy topics of Season 2.
Though the Netflix show may seem like a light-minded romance series, there are some incredibly triggering scenes and themes in Season 2.
Take, for example, the death of the Bridgerton patriarch from an allergic reaction to a bee sting that completely devastated his wife and children for years. It is hard not to shed a tear when watching 18-year-old Anthony, who has just lost his father, take responsibility for his family because no one else will, or him being a father figure to his younger siblings.
Jonathan Bailey shared that some of the scenes of Season 2 were emotionally draining for him, and he would cry with Ruth Gemmell playing Lady Violet Bridgerton. This ability to express his emotions without feeling emasculated is what his numerous fans love the actor for.
But this is not the only time the actor showed his healthy masculinity and was attentive to the needs of his co-stars on the set of Bridgerton. Bailey told The Sunday Times that he always made sure Simone Ashley felt safe while filming their emotionally charged sex scenes.
"For a man, it is less exposing," Jonathan Bailey said. "I wanted to make sure Simone felt safe as a newcomer on set."
On top of that, the actor has been described by his co-stars as charming, personable, charismatic, energetic, and open as a human being. Looks like neither Bailey's sexuality nor his gender define his roles and relationship with the people around him. The actor totally deserves the status of the internet crush of the year whose fans, according to the Los Angeles Times, span "all genders and orientations."
