Could it be the official announcement?

One of the biggest intrigues of Bridgerton is the order in which the show chose to tell the stories of the siblings. While some viewers might have expected the show to go from oldest to youngest, it never did, starting with the love story of Daphne, the 4th of 8 siblings, which is exactly how Julia Quinn's novel series began.

Another logical approach would have been to follow the order of the books, and the show did that by continuing Anthony's story right after Daphne's. However, the order was changed again when the 4th book, Romancing Mr. Bridgerton, was adapted into the third season. Now that viewers are completely confused, all they can do is guess who's going to be next.

Bridgerton Season 4 Leads

Luckily for viewers, there's not much more time to spend in the dark. Season three leads were announced shortly after season two premiered on Netflix. If the show follows roughly the same path, the next leads will be announced this summer, after season 3, part 2 drops on June 13.

However, there are already some signs pointing in Benedict Bridgerton's direction. First, it was his book that was skipped in order to show the love story of Penelope and Colin earlier. Secondly, the lack of a substantial storyline for his character is already too obvious in season 3 to make him wait another year.

Last but not least, season 3 leading man Luke Newton had something very exciting to say in his interview for L'BHOMME. When asked what other characters he would like to play, he mentioned Benedict in a totally unexpected way.

“I can’t really see myself in any other character. I love Benedict’s story, this season is very free and I think it’s a very nice place to be on the set. He is a free spirit and a kind of rebel. I can’t wait to see Benedict’s story next season,” the actor said.

Of course, this is far from being an official announcement confirmed by both Shondaland and Netflix, but it has already gotten many Bridgerton fans excited for season 4.

While Newton's words could have been misinterpreted, people tend to believe that it was a real slip of the tongue, revealing the truth that the producers wanted to keep until the end of the current season.

If you love Bridgerton and can't wait to find out who the show's next lead will be, keep an eye out for more exciting news and behind-the-scenes updates. Until then, tune in to Netflix on June 13 to catch the second part of Bridgerton season 3.
