Bridgerton Season 3 Update Hints at Unsettling Shondaland Tendency
Not Bridgerton falling victim to this pattern.
Rumor has it, dearest reader, that we may abandon all hope for Bridgerton season 3 to come out this December. Instead, we should prepare for a 2024 release: at least that's what the show's star, Adjoa Andoh, has clarified in a recent interview with Digital Spy.
There has been no official statement regarding the premiere date, but the fandom is already disappointed.
First of all, the update means the gap between seasons becomes even bigger; secondly, it seems that the delay puts Bridgerton on the way to the trap that has ruined many Shondaland shows before.
See, many people believe that Shonda Rhimes is absolutely great when it comes to pilots and first seasons. However, many of the show she helms quickly become "unwatchable" as they receive more chapters; thus, it looks like Bridgerton is facing the similar fate.
"They [Shondaland] don’t do clean storytelling well and also do things based off personal bias’ in many different forms that it hurts the storytelling. I always feel they struggle with removing themselves from the stories they’re telling in order to give it its proper due," Redditor SparkedSiren said.
According to fans, Shondaland shows undermine their own stories and characters way too often. The way things go south after first parts of the story "is so Ryan Murphy of her it hurts," as people note.
Season 1 of Bridgerton is still hailed by fans as "pure gold," while many people aren't ready to say the same about the second chapter.
Now that season 3 is apparently delayed, many people are starting to doubt that it will manage to live up to the standard set by the first chapter.
However, it might still be too soon to bury our favorite Regent drama. Despite the worrisome updates, the Bridgerton fandom is still eagerly anticipating the third season. The exact premiere date remains to be set.
