Bridgerton Season 3 Release Date Is Rumored to Be Further Than You Think
Bridgerton fans have been longing for another season of their favorite historical romance drama, but it seems like their wait may still not be over for quite some time.
It has been almost a year and a half since viewers were last treated to any Bridgerton content. Season 2, which focused on Viscount Bridgerton’s quest to find a wife, was released in March 2022.
In May 2023, audiences got a dream-come-true in the form of Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, a spinoff series that told the story of young Charlotte’s marriage to King George.
Both seasons of Bridgerton and the Charlotte-centric prequel (sequel) have set quite a few viewership records on Netflix and received an immense response from fans of the source material, i.e., Julia Quinn’s original Bridgerton books.
In June 2023, the streaming platform finally released the first looks at season 3 and its core characters during its TUDUM event. The photos featured Colin Bridgerton and Penelope Featherington, who are confirmed as the main love story of the season.
Fans have been speculating for months about when Netflix will debut Bridgerton season 3. A while back, before Queen Charlotte’s release date was announced to the public, there had been talk of a summer or fall premiere for season 3.
However, now that Bridgerton’s spinoff series came out in May 2023, there seems to be no chance of that happening – it seems unlikely that the company will release two seasons so close together from the business perspective point of view.
The consensus is that season 3 will probably premiere sometime in the winter, maybe even around Christmas. Bridgerton debuted season 1 on December 25, 2020, so it makes sense that season 3 would follow the established pattern.
Funnily enough, Netflix Portugal revealed December 14 as the release date for season 3 in a now-deleted Instagram post back in June 2023 – an X (fka Twitter) user was quick enough to capture it. This actually seems to be in line with fan expectations and common sense.
Whether Netflix will officially confirm a December debut date soon or drop Bridgerton season 3 on audiences without any warning remains unclear. It would be great to receive Colin and Penelope’s much-anticipated romance as an early Christmas present though! Fingers crossed.
