Bridgerton Season 3 Might Give Us Its Steamiest Scene Yet (Book Lovers, You Know Which Scene We're Talking About)

Untie that cravat, and loosen your corsets – 'cause this season features the romance between wallflower-with-a-secret Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) and her longtime crush Colin Bridgerton ( Luke Newton).

Unlike previous love stories on the show, this is the romance of two people who have been friends since childhood… but just because Colin and Penelope have known each other for a long time doesn't mean things aren't about to get hot.

Simone Ashley (who brought the heat as Kate Sharma in Season 2) recently told E!News that the new season was "condensation central", and that things are about to get "super steamy".

Fans of Julia Quinn's novels have been quick to share some of their favourite scenes from Romancing Mister Bridgerton, including a carriage ride where Penelope and Colin start out arguing and end up rounding second base with much enthusiasm.

That scene might be enough to get you fanning your neck and asking your footman for a glass of lemonade, but the scene that fans are MOST excited about isn't even really in the book.

During an amorous encounter later in the novel, Colin (who turns out to have an unexpected gift for dirty talk – 10 out of 10, no notes for Colin) describes with some detail exactly how he'd like to make love to Penelope, and where he'd like to do it: in front of a mirror, so they can both watch.

This scene isn't actually played out in the novel, but the image is so carefully drawn that a lot of readers would swear they actually remember it happening.

Well, soon those dear readers might remember it for real, because the hints are adding up that Colin's graphic description might play out in the show.

In 2022, Coughlan was asked in an interview what to expect from Season 3, and she answered with one word: "mirror". Later, she posted an Instagram story about the show with a mirror emoji.

During the first season, fans and creators of Bridgerton used a bee emoji to reference the show. In Season 2, the emoji of choice was Pall Mall sticks.

Currently, the mirror has taken over as the prime emoji for Season 3, so it seems likely that a very steamy scene is in our future…
